Sugar-free through the Christmas season with Xucker

Reading time: 2 minutes
The Christmas season is fast approaching and sugary treats such as Printen, Stollen and Lebkuchen, which bring the Christmas feeling straight home, have long since made their way into the supermarkets. The sweet dream of roasted almonds and warming mulled wine, whose seductive scent captivates us at the latest when we enter the Christmas market, is also becoming increasingly real. Clever Xugar bakers know that many of these sweet calorie bombs can be defused with Xugar instead of sugar.

Sweeten your Christmas recipes without sugar

Here are the six best tips for using Xucker during the Christmas season:

 1. biscuits, stollen, cake dough ...

... you can bake with various Xucker products. First and foremost is Xylit, such as Xucker Basic and Xucker Premium. You can use it to replace sugar 1:1 in all types of dough. For a sweet taste without any calories, however, we recommend using erythritol products. The best choice is powdered erythritol, which has a 70% sweetness of sugar and also replaces it 1:1. If necessary, it can be sweetened with powdered sugar. Less suitable for biscuit and cake doughs are the erythritol products Xucker Light and Xucker Bronxe. They are crystalline again after cooling and can crunch between the teeth when chewing.

2. coconut macaroons ...

... are often made on the basis of meringue. Here, too, you can easily use Xucker. Depending on your preference, add about 110 to 150 grams of Xucker to three egg whites, for example. Then add ground coconut flakes and nut flour and bake the coconut macaroons in the oven. Here you can find our >> Recipe for coconut macaroons 3. festive decorations ... ... for biscuits and cakes are especially popular during the Christmas season. With Xucker products, various decorations can be realised very well. Although cakes already have a wintery coat when sprinkled with icing sugar, the notorious icing can also be prepared in just a few steps with a little water or lemon juice. If required, it can easily be mixed with food colouring. Xucker chocolate drops can also be melted in a water bath and used for decorating. Especially in combination with freeze-dried berries or chopped nuts, this is a healthy alternative to conventional biscuit decorations.

4. somewhat more elaborate decorations ...

... can be excellently arranged with marzipan. This can also be made with icing sugar or Xucker Premium. Simply mix 150 g ground almonds with 130 g Xucker Premium or 150 g icing sugar, 2 tablespoons rose water and, if required, a little coconut oil and knead into a homogeneous mass. 5. crunchy candying ...

... is a must for those with a sweet tooth at Christmas time. Xucker Bronxe and Xucker Light are used for candied almonds, nuts and fruits. It's very easy to make: after melting the Xucker in a pan over medium heat, simply add the food to be candied and toss it in the liquid Xucker. To cool, simply place them on baking paper and leave them to rest for five minutes.

6. hot drinks like lumumba, mulled wine and Christmas punch ...

... are a must during the Christmas season. While conventional commercial products often contain a lot of sugar, you can brew these winter delicacies in your own kitchen with a low calorie content. While Lumumba can be prepared very well with Xucker Drinking Chocolate, the sugar in other drinks can easily be replaced with Xucker Light and Xucker Bronxe. To make a Christmas liqueur that can also be enjoyed cold, on the other hand, we recommend Xucker Premium or Xucker Basic.
